Nottingham is a city in the county of Nottinghamshire. It is located in the East Midlands, in the heart of England, and is considered to be the largest city in the region. With its central placing it is an ideal location for those wishing to visit other cities in the UK during their time of study. Nottingham is well served by transport links, with rapid access to the motorway system, a major railway station, an airport and a coach station. No matter where you live in the UK or overseas, you're never too far from home. The award-winning Go2 Uni 4 bus service linking our City and Clifton campuses runs every 7 minutes during term time. This bus is the only 'bendy' bus service in Nottingham and proudly carries the NTU logo and name. Further bus services provide easy access to the city from the Brackenhurst campus.

Many of our courses have received accreditations and direct input to their design and content from a range of professional bodies that recognise the quality of our teaching and research. In many cases students can and have directly benefited from associate membership to professional institutions while studying and upon graduation.

Research is also an area that is central to our mission and to the achievement of our aims. The University values what research is, what it does and those who undertake it – not only within our own academic community, but also through communications with the wider research community with which the University increasingly collaborates. The results of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 showed that 74% of the University's submitted research activities were of international status, with an impressive 8% ranked as 'world-leading'.  This result positions us very favourably with some of the UK's most research-intensive institutions. The consequent 75% increase in HEFCE research funding income has put us in an excellent position to take forward our research mission and to maximise our performance in the new Research Excellence (REF) due to inform HEFCE research funding from 2014.
